African Children's Choir"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." - James 1:27 The African Children's Choir (ACC) is the internationally acclaimed choir that has performed in communities all across North America and Europe. Some of their performances include the White House for former President George W. Bush, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ellen, American Idol for "Idol Gives Back," the United Nations Assembly, and Westminster Abbey for the Queen of England. After two and a half years, King's Park has seen over $400,000 go to the needs of African children, through Friends of Mirembe. The mission of Friends of Mirembe and the Mirembe House is to provide a restful and healthy home experience for at-risk African orphans within the African Children's Choir. At the end of 2009, we launched the Mirembe Capital Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise $450,000 pay off the remaining balance on the Mirembe Homes & 6-acre property. History of the African Children's Choir at KPICEarly in 2007, KPIC began hosting the African Children's Choir. The choir performs throughout the US, but has their home base here where they can return between tours to rest, play, and focus on their school work. This is the first time the children have had a home base while living in the US. Prior to now, they have traveled continually from location to location, staying with local families. The choir performs throughout the country, but is also a blessing to our local community, performing at various events for students, local groups, and the community at large.
